The Formal Commission

Let the atelier draw your mark

Every commission begins with a brief. Tell us the shape of the work, and we will respond within a season's turn.

1. Tell us what you need and where it will be used

2. We agree on scope, timing and a quote

3. Design and production begin after approval

We work remotely with clients worldwide. Your email and project brief are enough to begin; a phone number and preferred style are optional. See selected work.

Guide to preparing your enquiry

What should the project brief include?

Describe your activity, main audience and the problem you want design to address. Specify the applications you need, such as print, packaging, social media or a website. If you already have an identity, explain what should be retained or reconsidered. Your preferred timing and any practical constraints will also help make the initial request more useful.

What if I have not chosen a style?

Choose the unsure option and describe the intended feel and function of the work. The Ledger introduces classic, modern, vintage, bold and luxury approaches to help you compare them. References can make a discussion more concrete, but the purpose is to explore a direction that fits your project rather than reproduce another brand’s design.

How are scope, pricing and timing discussed?

An estimate depends on the scope, number and type of deliverables, and complexity of the requirements. Submitting this form provides information for review; it does not by itself establish a price or delivery agreement. Enter accurate contact details so the request can be followed up. You can also review the published portfolio for additional context before describing your commission.
